Print Work

Print work has its own set of rules & requirements, and is the largest category of design work, or at least it was until the web came along. Here’s just a few of the pieces I’ve done.

Balloon Ad
The client needed an ad for their casino to go in the program guide for the world-famous Hot Air Balloon Festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I always love a “clean” ad – not too much information – and this time the client was good enough to oblige.  Besides, balloons are always fun…just don’t try to pop one of these!

Expo Brochure, Front & Back, 2012 & 2009
I do a lot of print & web work for Artisan-Santa Fe, the largest art supply store in the Southwest. Every other year they put on an amazing 3-Day Art Supply & Workshop Expo, which was the largest of its kind in the world for 2012. It featured 99 Art Workshops and 72 art supply vendors selling art supplies at great prices. This brochure had to have a lot of information on it, so it’s always a challenge to fit a lot of info into a small space, and still maintain a somewhat open feel. The 2012 program was a vertical fold piece, where the 2009 program (okay, they’re not exactly every other year!) was a 8-way, fold-out version.

Power to the People Ad
This was a full-page newspaper ad in Taos, New Mexico.  The ad was announcing the free wi-fi being offered in their downtown plaza for the summer.

Super-Heroes Boys Club Postcard
A Richard Schwartz project again, this time a postcard for a fundraiser – to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mississippi, with a super-heroes theme.  I also adapted Richard’s “S” icon into a super-hero logo. He deserves the nod.  I always say that Richard has the biggest heart in Mississippi.

Nexus Magazine Cover
This was a cover design for Nexus Magazine, a special edition featuring the musical roster of New Earth Records, a new-age music label.

Grant a Wish Postcard
This was a postcard for the Make A Wish foundation’s “Season of Wishes” annual fund campaign, for children with life-threatening medical conditions.

New Year’s Eve Gala Invitation
This was an invitation for the Make A Wish foundation’s “New Years Eve Gala”.

2011 ARTSpot Workshops Brochure, Front & Back
This piece was fun to do – it folded up to the size of the 2 ads in the top-left corner of the front side. Again, brochures always have lots of info, so the fun is getting everything in there and still make it look good.
